This week, I’ve gotten both an extremely good evaluation, and a message saying that an executive took my tour and was very impressed. These were great bits of news, because it would be very easy for evaluators and executives to take certain tours and not be too happy. For example, today I talked about “On the Lot”, which is currently filming on our lot, and called it “the Fox reality show where the audience decides which filmmaker is the least horrible”. I also took a vote at the top of the tour to see how many people wanted to not see Whoopi Goldberg for the remainder of the tour. Only about 6 people voted yes. People love Whoopi!

It’s also hard to tell whether audiences still like me, because we’re getting into the portion of the summer where our guests are people who are stupid enough to visit a theme park in July. It’s been a week of blank, blank stares. My standby, “works everytime” jokes are flailing about, gasping for air. There’s also been a high degree of teenagers who are too cool for motherfuckin’ school. “What, you’re making a joke? Fuck that. This is so dumb”. “What? I have to stand behind the red line so the tram doesn’t hit me? God, shit. Fuck.”

But whenever I get down, there is a video I watch that reinvigorates me. Below is a link to a Universal Studios promotional video hosted by John Forsythe. If Forsythe’s crazy rambling doesn’t make you believe in the spirit of the movies, I don’t know what will.

“Movies are our childhood, and that childhood has persisted”. Indeed.
